As designers, uncertainty is part of our routines and work. So in the uncertain times the world is facing, it’s the natural thing to do for us to come together and create the structures for people to continue their creative work.

Our identities, the way we relate to each other, the technologies and our vision of the world is challenged. Let’s come together and reflect how what we do can help us push through, evolve and thrive.

Your submission does not necessarily have to fit into these topics. We’d rather that your proposal is unique, with a personal point of view and coming from own experience, instead of forcing a topic.

Who's your audience?

Who's your audience?

HATCH is tailored for experienced UX & Product Designers. Attendees with enough experience in the field are able to purchase tickets, which means… no need to go through the basics!

Our audience is built of team leaders, or senior designers about to take their first steps into design leadership. They look for advanced topics and case studies to learn and apply in their own work.

Hatch Conference 2023 Submission

Frequently asked questions

Until when do I have the time to submit?

The Call for Speakers is open until February 15th, 2023

What is required in my participation?

You will be responsible for preparing all necessary materials for your participation. That includes descriptions, slides (if needed) and any other dynamics. For the talks, we require an offline-ready file for the presentation (Keynote, PDF Export, ppt) and you won’t need to bring anything the day of the event. For workshops and other formats, you will need to bring your laptop if any digital materials are needed. You will need to be in the venue at least an hour before your scheduled slot. After closing the call, we’ll be sharing a speaker guide with all technical and non-technical details.

Can I still apply if I have no experience?

For sure! We offer first-time speakers and facilitators free coaching if their proposal is selected. Last year, 20% of the speakers / facilitators were first timers and they did a great job after a few coaching sessions.

Will my talk be made available online?

Yes. The conference also takes place online and we’ll be recording the talk as well as streaming it (in case of the main stage).

I need to travel to participate, how does booking work?

You will take care of your own travel arrangements, and we’ll cover until a fixed amount (see table above). In case you need support, our team can help you figure out where and when to stay in Berlin.

Do I get tickets for the conference?

As a speaker you are welcome (and encouraged!) to stay during the conference. If you want to bring someone along, please let us know.

How does the sales bonus work?

You’ll receive an individual coupon code that will activate a 10% discount on the ticket price (both for online and offline). After that discount is applied, we’ll give you 10% of each ticket sold.

What type of promotion am I required to do?

If you give a talk, we require you record a short podcast episode to promote your participation. This can be done any time from March to May and helps attendees decide what to see in the multi-track conference. We also require you to post to social media or public profiles about your participation 3 times: - When confirmed a speaker - When tickets go on sale - A week before the event

I've participated before, can I submit again?

To give fresh talent new chances, we'll ask speakers from previous years to always "skip" an edition. However, previously speakers may submit workshops or other formats to be considered.
